Don't Know What Happened...

No sure what happened however the server has crashed itself (lots of nulls were on at one point guess that lead to it crashing).

But the problem is that - So I've been told - the explorer.exe has stopped running (no idea why or how) on the VPS (meaning that none of the icons or the start bar are there anymore) which means that the server cannot be restarted because the files aren't accessible.

If anyone knows how to run explorer.exe without having access to the task manager / being able to right click / having access to do anything... It would mean that we can get the server back online.

I am working to get it back online however all attempts so far haven't worked

(here's a screenshot of what is viewed when I log onto the VPS if it helps anyone know what I mean by the explorer.exe being closed - dont know what good it'll do tho)

maybe started in the server like we tryed with CMD? was the files in the desktop?

So far i know jamie can't do anything
i suggested to make an .txt file and make that into a .bat file etc
But that is kinda hard without the explorder.exe and if right clik doesn't work neither...
And alt + F4 would close the window instead of the pc to be able to reboot
so were out of ideas...
and if john just told us who hosted the VPS we would be able to contact them...

why didn't he tell you who hosted the vps?

nope off untill jamie and the people who are helping can get it to work again,the screen shot isnt there for a nice blue squre it is that aTM.

well, the problem there is quite simple.. there are 2 ways to solve this: somehow reset the hole VPS hoping, that it has no logging in and has a startupprogram installed so it connects to remote as soon as its ready... but if not, then the remote access wownt start on boot and you have no access to the VPS cuase the connection is down so that more like the final option, hoping that the guys who take care of VPS are smart enough... the other option is to re start explorer.exe thats more difficult cause as the explorer is shut, you cant open any programs using just the mouse, you could use the ctrl+alt+del for taskmanager or windows+r for run so you can start exlorer but if you just type that, you get them in your own comp, not VPS so the other option is to get a virtual keyboard or on-screen keyboard working but thats jsut a program so your just starting a program, why not to start another program like exploter instead

however we could log in if it came to that but I've tried restarting it however the "shutdown" button on the loggin box is greyed out therefore cannot click it...

using ctrl+alt+del opens my screen rather than the VPS's and Winkey+R doesn't have any effect, we have also tried loading files and folders with explorer.exe in on start up however that also didn't have any effect and the onscreen keyboard didn't have any affect either tbh..

However i've got 1 more thing to try.. I can give it ago...

i think that what we've learned from this experience is that everything that goes wrong on this server is john's fault.

i have no idea but since he is controlling it, it crashed and closes explorer or sumthing

i think the only thing to do is contact the ppl who run the VPS and let them have it restarded.

I think thats a good idea. Go to live support or something on the VPS website

I didn't do anything. I woke up in the morning, rebooted the server because it had crashed, then went out for the day. Got back later that day and checked the server again and it was still running perfectly fine - no lag or anything but I went to check the VPS and everything loaded but the "explorer.exe" (as i've been told the problem is) but I don't actually have any idea what happened to make it not load, but I don't really have any idea why the server itself crashed.
